Gerbera Macro
After watching a number of very talented macro photographers do their thing on YouTube, I thought I would give it a go. Clearly it is not as easy as it looks as my results are nowhere near as good as theirs, so the challenge is on to raise the bar from here.
A Study Of Bees 2
On my first attempt to capture bees it was a failure. My second visit I succeeded in capturing some pretty decent images of the bees. On this visit, it was a case of trying again, but not with my Sony A7R MkII and a dedicated Macro Lens (Sony 90mm Macro), instead, the Sony RX10 MkIV. […]
Lizards Of Australia 2
The Australian National Botanic Gardens in ACT, offers a great opportunity to get up close with some of Australia’s Lizards, hundreds of them in fact. This was my second take using on this occasion the Sony RX10 MkIV bridge camera, to see how it performed. The Sony RX10 MkIV did a great job of getting […]
Mother & Child
One early morning on Sydney Harbour near Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair, a Seagull Mother and her hungry child go through the feeding ritual. I made the mistake on this day of not checking my camera settings fully, and shot all of these images in the crop mode of the Sony A7R II.
A Study Of Bees
On my first visit to the National Botanic Gardens I tried to capture the bees in these pink flowered trees, and it was a miserable failure. I used the lens wide open at f2.8 which resulted in no depth of field and mostly blurry bees. The second visit I stopped down to around f8 which […]
Australian Flowers
The National Botanic Gardens in Canberra is one of my favourite places to photograph. It offers a wealth of flowers, birds and lizards to keep you snapping all day. The images here were shot across two separate visits using the brilliant Sony 90mm Macro Lens.
Lizards of Australia
The Australian National Botanic Gardens in ACT, offers a great opportunity to get up close with some of Australia’s Lizards, hundreds of them in fact. I wouldn’t say they are approachable, you can get reasonably close but you will still need a long lens. I used a 70-200mm for the images here which gave me […]
The Dramatic Ocean
Yabbarra Beach in Narooma, NSW is not a swimming beach , it is far too wild for that. A few surfers brave it’s rough waves, and crazy people like me try to get some photos of the waves crashing over the rocks. I spent about two hours trying to get these dramatic ocean images, and […]
Rockpool Landscapes
I have been on many beaches in my time, but never have I seen such lush green vegetation in rockpools. The beaches along the southern coast of NSW are all so pristine, perhaps that is why such lush vegetation exists, but whatever the reason, it made for some great images and the Sony 90mm G […]
Australian Lorikeet
The Australia Lorikeets are in great abundance on the east coast, even in the big cities and towns. They are cheeky as hell and always after a great feed. This little guy was visiting us every day of our south coast holiday, which gave me a great opportunity to take some pics as he was […]
Rusty Truck
I have always wanted to photograph a rusty truck laying on a farmers land somewhere, but I was not expecting to find one on Kangaroo Island. This truck was in the front yard of a souvenir shop in the middle of nowhere. I used a rather inexpensive Sony kit lens, but the results are great.
Colours Of The Outback
An opportunity came up to join a photographer mate in Alice Springs, for a drive back to Sydney, so I flew out to meet him in Alice Springs. We spent the next week driving back to Sydney via Adelaide and the Great Ocean Road. The thing that has remained with me from that trip, was […]
