Waterfall Reef

Imagine this, a truly extraordinary sight that seems to defy all logic and expectations – a majestic waterfall right in the middle of the vast ocean. It may sound like something out of a dream, but the Waterfall Reef is exactly that, and it’s the only one of its kind anywhere in the world. This incredible phenomenon leaves you in awe as you try to wrap your mind around its sheer wonder. Nature has a way of surprising us, and the Waterfall Reef is a stunning testament to the beauty and magic that can be found in the most unexpected places.

Waterfall Reef

Located off the coast of Cygnet Bay in the northern region of Western Australia, the Waterfall Reef is a sight to behold. Those who visit the area have the opportunity to go on boat rides organised by the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, allowing them to witness this captivating natural wonder up close.

If you’re lucky enough, like I was, to visit during the early morning with the outgoing tide, you’ll be treated not only to the breathtaking sight of the Waterfall Reef but also to a mesmerising sunrise that adds an extra touch of magic to the experience.

The reef itself is not rock, it is actually a coral reef, and as the tides goes out the ocean above the reef vanishes, creating the extraordinary sight of the waterfall in the middle of the ocean.
