Queen Victoria’s Head

Queen Victoria’s Head in Western Australia is an extraordinary rock formation discovered in the remote Kimberley region. Molded by natural erosion, this geological marvel strikingly resembles the profile of Queen Victoria, the iconic monarch who reigned over the British Empire during the 19th century.

Positioned amidst the rugged landscapes, this exceptional landmark serves as a testament to the historical ties between the British Empire and Australia, commemorating the influence and legacy of Queen Victoria in the region. Set against the backdrop of the majestic Kimberley, this unique geological formation captivates the imagination and invites visitors to reflect upon the profound history and cultural connections that unite these distant lands.

As visitors stand before the stone likeness of Queen Victoria, they are transported back in time, reminded of the profound impact of the British Empire and the enduring mark it left on the continent of Australia.

These images were shot as a once in ten year rain event was rolling into The Kimberley, I was high-tailing it out of there and heading to safer ground before the Gibb River Road was closed for an unknown number of days. This explains the rather ominous clouds in the sky!
