The Western Corella is a medium sized white cockatoo native to inland and south western Australia, recognised by its blue eye ring, pale bill and distinctive red patch between the eye and the beak.
It favours open woodland, farmland and grasslands, where it feeds mainly on seeds, bulbs and roots, often foraging on the ground in large, noisy flocks. Highly social and intelligent, the Western Corella forms strong pair bonds and is known for its playful behaviour and loud calls.
While adaptable and resilient, it has also come into conflict with agriculture in some areas due to its feeding habits, making it one of Australia’s more controversial cockatoo species.
