Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock and officially gazetted as Uluru, is a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory in central Australia. It lies 335 km south west of the nearest large town, Alice Springs. Nothing really prepares you for when it first appears in front of you. It looks somehow surreal and almost painted onto the sky, but totally worth the long journey to get there.
