The Willie Wagtail is one of Australia’s most familiar and charismatic small birds, found across the country including throughout New South Wales. It is instantly recognised by its bold black and white plumage, upright stance and constant tail wagging.
Highly active and fearless, the Willie Wagtail feeds mainly on insects, often chasing them on the ground or in short aerial sallies. Confident around people and rich in folklore, it is a lively and ever present companion in gardens, parks and open woodland.
