Sun Conure

The Sun Conure is a strikingly colourful parrot native to northern South America, particularly parts of Brazil, Guyana and Venezuela, instantly recognisable by its vivid orange and yellow body with green wing highlights. In the wild it inhabits savannahs, palm groves and open woodland, where it feeds on fruit, seeds and berries, usually moving in small, noisy flocks.

Sun Conures are known for their high energy, intelligence and strong social bonds, traits that make them engaging but demanding birds in captivity, as they require constant stimulation and interaction. Sadly, wild populations have declined due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, making conservation efforts increasingly important for the species’ long term survival.
