Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo

The Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo is a large, unmistakable white cockatoo found across eastern and northern Australia, including much of New South Wales, where it thrives in woodland, parks and urban areas.

It is recognised by its powerful black bill and the bright yellow crest that it raises when excited or alarmed. Highly intelligent, social and extremely loud, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos live in large flocks and are well known for their playful behaviour and problem solving ability.

Their adaptability to city life has made them both much loved and occasionally troublesome, as they readily exploit human environments for food and shelter.
