The Silver Gull is Australia’s most widespread and familiar gull, found along coastlines, estuaries, lakes and urban areas throughout New South Wales. It is easily recognised by its white body, pale grey wings, red bill and legs, and its loud, sharp calls.
Highly adaptable and opportunistic, the Silver Gull feeds on fish, invertebrates and human food scraps, which has allowed it to thrive around cities and beaches. Confident and often bold around people, it has become an unmistakable feature of Australia’s coastal and urban environments.
