New Holland Honeyeater

The New Holland Honeyeater is a small, striking honeyeater found across southern Australia, including much of New South Wales, where it favours heathland, woodland and coastal scrub.

It is instantly recognisable by its bold black and white streaked plumage and bright yellow wing flashes, which are especially visible in flight. Highly active and aggressive for its size, the New Holland Honeyeater feeds mainly on nectar but also takes insects, often chasing much larger birds away from flowering plants.

Fast moving, noisy and constantly calling, it is a lively and unmistakable presence in its preferred habitats.
