Little Friarbird

The Little Friarbird is a noisy and energetic honeyeater found across northern and eastern Australia, including parts of New South Wales, particularly in coastal and near coastal habitats.

It is recognised by its brown, streaked plumage, bare black facial skin and slightly curved bill, giving it a somewhat scruffy appearance compared with other honeyeaters.

Feeding mainly on nectar, fruit and insects, the Little Friarbird is highly active and often aggressive around flowering trees, chasing off other birds. Its loud, chattering calls and constant movement make it easy to notice, even when it is partly hidden among foliage.
