Galahs are one of Australia’s most familiar and charismatic cockatoos, easily recognised by their soft pink chest and face contrasted with pale grey wings and back.
Found across much of the country, including New South Wales, they thrive in open woodland, farmland and urban areas, often gathering in large, noisy flocks. Highly social and intelligent, Galahs are known for their playful behaviour, acrobatic flight and strong pair bonds.
Their adaptability has allowed them to flourish alongside human settlement, making them a constant and much loved feature of the Australian landscape.
