Eurasian Chaffinch

The Eurasian Chaffinch is a small, colourful songbird widespread across Europe and parts of western Asia, commonly found in woodland, hedgerows, gardens and farmland.

Males are especially striking, with a blue grey cap, pinkish underparts and bold white wing bars, while females are more subdued in brown and grey tones. Highly adaptable, Eurasian Chaffinches feed on seeds, buds and insects, often foraging on the ground or low vegetation.

Their sharp “pink” call and lively, rhythmic song make them a familiar and much appreciated presence across their range.
