Eastern Rosella

The Eastern Rosella is one of Australia’s most colourful and familiar parrots, found across south eastern Australia, including much of New South Wales.

It is instantly recognised by its bright red head, white cheek patches, yellow underparts and intricately patterned black and yellow wings. Eastern Rosellas favour open woodland, farmland, parks and gardens, where they feed mainly on seeds, grasses, fruits and blossoms, often foraging on the ground.

Sociable and active, they are commonly seen in pairs or small groups and are a striking feature of both rural and suburban landscapes.
