Blue & Yellow Macaw

The Blue and Yellow Macaw is one of the largest and most iconic parrots in the world, instantly recognisable by its vivid blue upper plumage, bright yellow chest and long, elegant tail.

Native to the rainforests and open woodlands of South America, it is highly intelligent, extremely social and often seen flying in pairs or small family groups, with strong lifelong bonds between mates.

Its powerful black beak is perfectly adapted for cracking nuts and seeds, while its loud, far carrying calls are a natural part of life in its native habitat. In captivity, the Blue and Yellow Macaw is known for its affectionate nature and impressive ability to learn vocalisations, but it also demands significant space, mental stimulation and long term commitment from its keeper.
