The Blue-faced Honeyeater is a bold and highly recognisable bird found across northern and eastern Australia, including much of New South Wales, especially in open woodland, parks and urban gardens.
It is instantly identified by the striking patch of bare blue skin around the eyes, contrasting with its olive green body, white throat and black facial mask. Highly adaptable and confident around people, the Blue-faced Honeyeater feeds on nectar, fruit, insects and even food scraps, often dominating feeding sites with its assertive behaviour.
Its loud, varied calls and inquisitive nature make it a familiar and unmistakable presence wherever it occurs.
