The Dusky Lory is a striking parrot with dark brown to blackish plumage, vivid orange-red markings, a bright orange beak and a bold, lively expression.
Native to New Guinea and nearby islands, it is an energetic, social bird that feeds mainly on nectar, fruit, pollen and blossoms. Its rich colours, playful nature and loud, chattering calls make it one of the more distinctive lories.
