The Bar-shouldered Dove is a small, attractive Australian dove with soft grey-brown plumage, a pale blue-grey head and distinctive barred markings across the neck and shoulders.
Often found in open woodland, parks, gardens and coastal scrub, it spends much of its time foraging on the ground for seeds and small plant material. Its gentle, rhythmic call and calm nature make it a familiar and understated bird across much of northern and eastern Australia.
