The Yellow-crowned Amazon is a bright green parrot best recognised by the yellow patch across its forehead and crown. Native to parts of Central and South America, it is an intelligent, social and vocal bird, often found in forests, woodland edges, savannas and mangroves.
It feeds mainly on fruit, seeds, nuts and berries, using its strong curved beak to break open tougher food. Its bold colour, alert expression and lively nature make it one of the classic Amazon parrots.
