The Glossy Ibis is an elegant wetland bird with a long, curved bill, slender legs and rich chestnut-brown plumage that catches the light with green and purple iridescence.
Often seen wading through shallow water, marshes and flooded grasslands, it probes the mud for insects, small aquatic animals and other invertebrates. Its dark, shimmering colouring and graceful shape make it one of the more striking ibis species.
